Now an Oregon Heritage Tradition Day!

Presented by NNW and The League of Swedish Societies

Sponsored by Scan|Design Foundation

Fresh summer greenery is said to contain magic. The weaving of floral Midsummer wreaths has been a way to harness this power and ensure good health throughout the year in celebrations in Scandinavia for centuries. Legend says that a child who picks seven flowers and puts them under their pillow will dream of the person they will marry! Use bright flowers and delicate birch branches to weave a wreath of your own!

Looking to see what Midsummer is all about!

Learn how to make a traditional flower crown:

In the Northern lands of the midnight sun, it's tradition to warm up after a long cold winter by celebrating Midsummer.

A big thank you to our ongoing event partners: Scan|Design Foundation and Portland's League of Swedish Societies!

Join your friends and family in SE Portland to ring in the 91st year of this historic, regional tradition that occurs each June. Scandinavian roots are not required to celebrate Midsummer. It continues to be a fun, family friendly and important day with centuries-old traditions and everyone is invited!

Scandinavians in traditional dress will greet our thousands of visitors. Food and crafts are available all day from local Nordic clubs, vendors and artists. Two stages of entertainment and a beer garden promise continuous entertainment with live music and dancing (view the 2019 entertainment lineup), all with a Nordic flair. The Midsummer Pole will be raised with much excitement and pomp, followed by festive dancing and singing!
