About
Give your child a creative adventure they’ll talk about for weeks! In this lively workshop, Nick Maier of Skillcraft Institute introduces young makers to the joy of carving by helping them craft their own walking stick from fresh forest branches. Kids learn safe, hands‑on techniques as they peel bark, shape the wood, and add decorative touches—gaining confidence with real tools like carving knifes and shave horses in a fun, supportive environment.
While the sticks take shape, Nick brings the class to life with fascinating Danish lore: unicorn‑horn thrones, mysterious mushroom “Witch’s rings,” and ancient oak trees that have stood for thousands of years. It’s the perfect blend of craft and imagination.
Ages 9 and up, and especially helpful for parents who want guidance teaching knife safety. Ages 9-14 must attend with a supervising adult guardian. Adult guardians assisting kids with the craft are not required to purchase a ticket.
