About
Little Known Places to Visit in Norway explores destinations beyond the country’s well-known tourist routes. While Norway is famous for its fjords and landmarks, this talk highlights smaller, lesser-known places such as Engeløya in Northern Norway, the village of Bjordal along the Sognefjord, and Snertingdal itself—home to the bridge said to have inspired The Three Billy Goats Gruff. Through stories, history, and personal experience, the presentation offers a warm and engaging look at a quieter, more personal side of Norway.
Raised in the small valley of Snertingdal in Gjøvik County, the Finn Brobakken grew up listening to family stories about relatives who emigrated to North America. Conversations at home often centered on Wisconsin, Minnesota, and even Saskatchewan in Canada. These connections became lifelong relationships, with relatives from the United States and Canada visiting the family farm in Snertingdal nearly every year for four decades, and Finn Brobakken making eighteen trips to North America in return.
