Great for ages 8 and up
Nordic culture has a long tradition of weaving, and of harnessing nature and color in their art and homes. Spending time outside in nature is so important there is a word for it in Norwegian: friluftsliv (“free-loofs-leaf”), which roughly translates to “open-air-living.”
Students will weave with flowers, grasses, twigs, stems, leaves, and bark, as well as traditional yarn to make beautiful forest tapestries, that can be refilled over and over with new plants for an ever-changing work of nature art for your garden and home.
Your instructor will provide you with step-by-step instruction on how to turn branches and yarn into looms, and guide students in foraging and then weaving their plants into their tapestries.
