This immersive four-day språkleier (language camp) for adults includes formal and informal Norwegian language learning, norsk food, sports, music, and plenty of friluftsliv! It is designed for lifelong learners who want to engage with norsk language and culture. Whether you are an absolute beginner or an advanced speaker, you will find space to learn, listen, and practice at the level that feels right for you.

Play and shared experience are at the heart of this long weekend. You might find yourself on a grassy field with a game of kubb, wandering along forest trails in easy conversation, or gathered around a table over a Norwegian board game as new vocabulary slips naturally into laughter and friendly competition. There will be norsk speaking staff, skilled in teaching in a playful and effective way. Participants will be divided into language learning groups by language level. These groups will meet twice daily for more structured lessons. Each day starts with allsang, where everyone sings norske sanger that will become familiar by the end of the weekend.

Meals are provided and the returning kitchen crew will prepare food that feels both comforting and culturally appropriate. Breakfasts often include smørbrød, other meals could feature dishes like grøt (porridge), laks (salmon) or vaffler (waffles) - sorry no lutefisk!  Sharing meals is part of the cultural learning, as food carries language, tradition, and connection.

Location

Anderson Lodge is simple, comfortable, and close to nature. Lodging is mostly in the main lodge, which offers both small and larger rooms. This year there is also the option to bring your own RV/Camper/Tent and camp on the grounds.
