Blue Ice Design
Over the years, Felicia has become increasingly influenced by elements of the northern landscape and has found expression through the language of Scandinavian Modern Design. This is characterized by a respect for simple, clean designs inspired by nature, through the use of sculptural form and, above all, a respect for craftsmanship.
Felicia is originally from New York City where she nourished an ongoing interest in Nordic design and architecture. This led her to live and work in Norway and she now continues her creative effort in the Pacific Northwest.
Folk Art of Norway
Website
Norway’s Folk Art, Rosemaling, originated in the quiet green valleys and high rugged mountains of rural Norway. In the 1600’s Norwegians began painting their soot stained walls and furniture with bright flowing designs inspired by summer flowers and tumbling waterfalls.
Rosemaling by Patti Jo Meshnik: My love of Rosemaling originates from my Norwegian roots. At each show I feature a photo of my dear Grandmother, Ragnhild Rolfsness, taken shortly before leaving Norway in 1903. I enjoy sharing my heritage through the many pieces I paint including plates, bowls, boxes, notecards, Christmas ornaments, tea kettles and even skate boards!
