About
Henry Steiner (1878–1978), a German immigrant and master builder, helped shape the architectural identity of the Pacific Northwest. Known for his distinctive log craftsmanship, Steiner combined traditional European woodworking with the natural beauty of Oregon’s forests, creating cabins and lodges that have become enduring symbols of regional heritage. His works—many found around Mount Hood—embody both artistry and resilience, reflecting the spirit of the early 20th-century mountain community.
In conjunction with the January 2026 Steiner Cabins Exhibit at the Oregon State Capitol, this special program—presented by the Nordic Northwest and the Mt.
