About
Pom-poms, or “garnbollar, is a wonderful craft for almost every age. A practice in patience and bold creativity.
In this class you will learn how to make a cardboard Pom-pom maker, how to use a Pom-pom pattern, and some basics on how to create your own pattern. We will also make some classic freestyle Pom-poms. Each participant will receive a wreath base and instructions on how to attach their finished Pom-poms to make a Pom-pom wreath.
The great thing about Pom-poms is that you can choose how difficult or easy you want it to be. All levels are welcome.
We will be using yarn scraps, needles, scissors, and glue guns.
About the instructor:
My name is Anna Svensson. I am a Swedish artist based in Portland, Oregon. Growing up in Sweden in a family of crafters, I was trained in Sloyd from a young age. I learned to use and repurpose available resources and make the best of it.
Pom-poms were a popular craft when I grew up. My friends and I could sit for hours making Pom-poms of different sizes. We would just use whatever yarn we had available, try different things and see how they turned out. As an adult I have watched the craft of Pom-poms evolve into something that would be best described as mini yarn sculptures. There's a lot of fun to be had with Pom-poms. I hope you will join me.
