Learn how to create your own himmeli, the traditional Finnish holiday decoration made of natural straw threaded into beautiful geometric mobiles.

Traditionally made with rye straw and originally hung over the dinner table to ensure a bountiful harvest, himmelis continue to be quintessential holiday decorations, as well striking décor throughout the year. Himmeli crafts have become very popular worldwide, and contemporary versions can include copper, wood, plastic, and paper in place of straw.

In this workshop you’ll learn how to make your own himmeli to hang in your home! A choice of materials will be available to use, including straw, metal, and plastic. There will also be kid-friendly materials provided that are easier for little hands to thread and handle.

All supplies and equipment will be provided. Instructor will guide you through each step to create at least one medium-sized himmeli.

This is a multi-generational activity! An adult guardian is required for children under the age of 18. Adult guardians do not have to purchase a ticket if they only plan to assist their children in the craft. Adults who plan to make their own craft are required to purchase a ticket.
