Learn a fun and relaxing new hobby by exploring a variety of embroidery stitches while creating a floral sampler or a band sampler. You will learn different types of needles, threads, and fabrics and the advantages of all of them. Join in for a fun-filled and creative day.

Fiber arts is a huge part of the culture in the Nordic countries. Embroidery has a rich history in the Nordic countries and there is a modern revival. The history goes beyond modern record keeping. During the cold months in Nordic countries crafting (especially fiber arts) is a great way to pass the time along with using resources that were traditionally on the farm and the land. Join us in this Nordic tradition with a modern take.

Meet your instructor, Jean Orchard

She has taught many types of needlework, designed and stitched an ornament for the White House Christmas Tree, taught at local and national seminars and taught Hardanger at the International Organizational of Lace Incorporated. Jean has a love of sharing Hardanger with those who are interested and has taught fifth graders to those in their eighties with all achieving success.
