About
Get ready to weave like a Viking! In this hands‑on lucet weaving class, kids will discover how to use a cool, two‑pronged tool called a lucet—just like the ones used in Medieval times—to create their own colorful cords. We’ll explore how lucet weaving works, why it was so handy for making strong cords long ago, and then jump right into making our own! No measuring, no tricky setup—just looping, pulling, and watching your cord grow longer and longer. By the end, everyone will have a fun handmade cord they can turn into a bracelet, keychain, or anything their imagination dreams up!
Best for ages 6+. An adult guardian is required to be present for students under the age of 14. Adult guardians assisting their child are not required to purchase a ticket.
About Your Instructor
Rachael Grow has been a formal instructor since 2019, but she has been sharing her “how to” tips with friends and family members for years. Her passion for fiber arts started when she was 6 years old, that’s when her mother taught her to crochet. From there it was love at first stitch and Rachael pursued learning as many different fiber arts as possible. She has a passion for art yarns and loves to create projects with handmade yarns, especially small weavings. When Rachael isn’t frolicking with fiber she is playing with her family in Portland, Oregon. You can find Rachael’s Etsy here: www.eosunwomoon.etsy.com
