About
This is our opening reception for Nordic Northwest’s Suana is Life exhibit.
Hear from two partners, Amee O’Carroll and Jon Gentry from GO’C, a leading architecture firm in Seattle, Washington. You will hear about the two saunas that GO’C has designed and built in Seattle.
Floating Sauna
The idea for the floating sauna was born on a cold and wet winter’s day. Combining our love of the water, the relaxing dry heat of saunas, and floating structures, the project began to take shape. We focused on primal concepts of fire, water, and community. We were searching for a way to engage the water surrounding our city, enticing visitors onto the lakes year round. We called this project ‘wa_sauna’ and felt it would be a welcomed addition to the Pacific Northwest landscape and its adventurous people.

Sauna Chapel
The Sauna Chapel creates a small backyard retreat for this residence located in a quiet Seattle neighborhood. The location on the site is one of sanctuary and reflection for these clients and the form of the architecture acts as a totem to their grandparents’ heritage.
