Ole Bolle is turning two! Join us to celebrate our beloved giant troll with creative reuse crafting, birthday cake, and live Nordic folk music!
It's been two years since Danish recycle artist Thomas Dambo created Ole Bolle, a large troll sculpture made out of recycled materials who now resides in the woods of Nordic Northwest.
Come join the fun and try your hand at recycle crafts led by local creative reuse trailblazers SCRAP Pdx, ReClaim It, Skillcraft Institute, and Lovett Deconstruction. Visit the Travelling Typist to type on recycled materials, and twirl to live Nordic folk music played on traditional instruments like the Swedish nyckelharpa.
Tickets will be available to purchase at the door to build a “Viking” Chair with Skillcraft Institute, as well as to purchase a reclaimed-wood birdhouse to decorate. Thomas Dambo’s Way of the Bird King book and iron-on decals will be available for purchase. Bring your own tshirt to apply the decals with our thermal press at the event and wear to celebrate Ole Bolle’s birthday! A limited number of blank tshirts will also be available to purchase.
At 4:00 pm, enjoy a piece of delicious birthday cake from Carinas Bakery! Bring your own plate and fork to keep the carbon footprint down, in the spirit of Ole Bolle!
It’s a fun-filled afternoon we hope you will join us in celebrating!
This is a multi-generational activity! An adult guardian is required for children under the age of 18.
