About

Fresh off a month-long creative immersion in Finland funded by a grant from Finlandia Foundation National, the founder of the Bardic Arts Revival movement and creator of The Humbling of Thor returns to Nordia House for an unforgettable evening of living myth. Interweaving the ancient magic of The Kalevala and Norse mythology with contemporary storytelling, The Bard escorts the audience into a sonic journey across time and distance. Experience a bold tapestry of rock, opera, folk, unscripted storytelling, and spoken word poetry, brought to life through voice, grand piano, Greek lyre, and the resonant strings of the Finnish kantele.

About the Performer:

Casey Schissler, also known as The Bard, is a multidisciplinary performing artist from Portland, OR and is the founder of The Bardic Arts Revival Movement. Their work is a forensic reconstruction of the lost traditions of the Western European Bardic mythology bearers, arriving at the conception that the ancient Bards were a fusion of ancient rock star, philosopher, mystic, shaman, and poet.

Casey’s style involves unscripted mythological storytelling, original poetry, and music through a contemporary lens, and has been gaining momentum and a following within the Nordic and broader Portland community, with multiple sold-out shows to date. Their unique musical style ranges from opera/classical, rock, folk, melodic metal, and spoken word poetry.
