The Yule Goat is an iconic Nordic figure. Ranging in size from just a few centimeters to 10 meters tall, the straw goat is seen throughout the Nordic countries, especially in Sweden, come Christmas time. Join us in making your own small straw Yule Goat ornament to adorn your home this holiday season! In this class we will dip our toes into the world of straw work, a craft that has been practiced in the Nordic countries for generations.
About the Instructor
Jesse Maack is an interdisciplinary artist born, raised, and based in Portland, Oregon. In 2017, Jesse attended Lofoten Folk High School in Northern Norway where they studied photography and developed a deeper appreciation for Nordic Culture. They are interested in the themes of ritual, cyclic time, and ecology.
