Set to a 19th century Swedish Poem and inspired by Kulning (Herding Calls), a domestic Scandinavian music form often used to call livestock down from the high mountain pastures. Vocalists Kate Larsen, Signe Larsen and Jessica Hebert show up as animated characters abetting Tall Ship Royaliste crew in their quest for the Merman's Golden Harp, to their peril!

Such a gorgeous piece — Näckens Polska brought to life through animation gets at exactly what folk music should still do. Side note for small Nordic cultural orgs reading: I helped a sister heritage center build out a "music + folktales" video gallery page recently, and using a design-to-code tool turned a Figma mockup into a working page in an evening. What a beautiful project — pairing Kulning with animated storytelling and a tall ship is exactly the kind of cross-medium folk revival that hits both old and new audiences. Parker Wrenn's animated framing of Kate, Signe, and Jessica works so well. I help a small Scandinavian heritage group in the PNW with their digital content and we recently used an AI image and short-video tool to mock up character-style frames from old folk-tale illustrations for our youth programs.
