Christiana Smith Shi is the former President of Nike’s Direct-to-Consumer business. Christiana joined Nike in 2010, and led Nike’s retail and e-commerce businesses globally until her retirement in late 2016. Prior to Nike, Christiana had a 24-year career at McKinsey & Co., Inc., where she led the Retail Practice and was the 10th woman elected Senior Partner in McKinsey’s then 75-year history. Christiana is currently the Founding Partner at Lovejoy Advisors, LLC, where she counsels leading consumer and retail companies on their digital transformation strategies. She also serves as a director on the boards of Columbia Sportswear, Mondelez International, UPS, Inc and Habitat for Humanity, International.
If you could pick only one place in the Nordic countries to visit, where would it be?
It’s so hard to pick just one! I’ve travelled around Denmark, Norway and Sweden, and loved so many places. If I had to pick, I would say Helsinki, because I haven’t yet visited Finland, and I would love to experience the culture, sites, people, and food of Finland next.
Favorite Nordic Food?
I love a Swedish cake called the Princess Cake or Prinsesstårta. The Princess Cake has layers of sponge cake, raspberry jam, vanilla custard, and whipped cream. It is traditionally dome-shaped and covered with a layer of sweet marzipan tinted green. Basically, all my favorites, wrapped into one dessert…!
