Explore basic rosemaling techniques and create a decoration for the garden! In this unique class, participants explore the intricate art of rosemaling on smooth river rocks.

Rosemaling is a beloved decorative painting style that is a national treasure of Norway. Traditionally adorning wooden cabinets, boxes, panels, and plates, it can be painted on anything - and has been - there are artists who have painted rosemaling on skateboards and on entire houses! In this introduction to rosemaling, painting rocks is a fun alternative for the beginner. Students will learn about the history and significance of rosemaling in Norwegian culture, and take home a fun decoration that may be the start of a new hobby!
