About
Discover the history and meaning of the Norse runic alphabet in this hands-on workshop. Participants will learn how runes evolved from the pre-Viking Age to the Viking Age, then compose a short phrase using runic writing. Using a wood-burning pen, students will add their runes to a prepared wooden board featuring a runestone design, creating a personalized piece to take home. This class focuses primarily on runic history and literacy, with a light introduction to wood-burning techniques.
