Nordic Northwest’s Community Spotlights celebrate the valuable contributions, enthusiasm, and achievements of members in the Nordic community. Thank you to all of our dedicated and supportive community members!

Meet Laura Williams!
Originally from Auburn, California, Laura's upbringing as an Air Force kid gave her a taste for adventure. Armed with degrees in Cultural Anthropology, Media Arts, and International Studies, she's no stranger to diving deep into different cultures. By day, she’s working at MarketSource, but by night (and weekends), she's all about her two Akitas, spending time with her boyfriend (who’s 7 feet tall), outdoor adventures, and exploring her family tree.
Laura joined the ScanFair committee in 2023 as our vendor liaison (you might have met her during ScanFair weekend, as our go-to person for vendors, checking everybody in, assisting them with unloading, loading, and all kinds of questions ensuring everything runs smoothly and everyone feels the Nordic love) and had so much fun that she promptly hopped on board the Midsummer Committee as well.
Laura stumbled upon Nordic Northwest while searching for a way to reconnect with her Nordic heritage after losing her parents. Now, she finds joy in every moment spent celebrating Nordic culture and connecting with fellow enthusiasts.
Thank you, Laura, for your wonderful passion and enthusiasm for all things Nordic, for inspiring others, and for donating your time!
Favorite word in a Nordic language?
“Hmm, that is a hard one there are a couple that really ring true to me. Hygge, because I love the coziness and well-being. Fika, because I am often doing that for a break. Sisu because I am stubborn and stick with something to see it through, have often proven others wrong when they said I couldn’t do something. We could add in Skål because let’s celebrate!”

What stands out most is her dedication as a volunteer. Taking on roles like vendor liaison for ScanFair and then joining additional committees melhoras imagem shows a genuine commitment to helping events run smoothly while also creating a welcoming experience for others
