Make your own Fastelavn barrel!

Who will be the Cat Queen or King? The Danish Fastelavn barrel is not like anything you find in the USA. This Barrel is made out of wood, filled with candy and decorated with a black cat. Find out how to make your own mini barrel here..

Supplies:

· Toilet paper roll

· Craft sticks

· Tape

· String

· Glue

· Treats!

Directions:

STEP 1)

Seal one end of you paper roll. You can just tape it closed. I cut a paper circle to put down first so the goodies inside don’t stick to the tape. Stuff your roll full of goodies, and seal the other side.

STEP 2)

I measured the diameter of my paper roll. It’s 5 & ½ inches. Lay out craft sticks to just over 5&1/2 inches.

STEP 3)

Tape sticks on the top and bottom. Trim one side even and let other side over hang.

STEP 4)

Turn over. Cut a piece of string long enough to hang. Glue to sticks. (I use a hot glue gun so it stays.

STEP 5)

Add glue a strip of glue to each stick, lay down your filled roll and roll it up.

STEP 6)

Decorate with black cats or other festive designs.

STEP 7)

Now the fun part! Hang your barrel in a tree, grab a stick and break it open!

STEP 8)

First one to knock off the bottom of the barrel is the “Cat Queen”, and the one to knock off the last board is the “Cat King!"
